New Moon Aquarius: Overload

New Moon Aquarius

NEW MOON [23 Aquarius 17]

February 11, 2021 (19:06 GMT)

This week we have a New Moon which is in itself a powerful symbol for a new beginning and making a fresh start. The New Moon falls in the star sign Aquarius, ruling friends, groups and the collective. This is a networking and sociable New Moon in the star sign linked to technology, astrology and the digital world.

No Ordinary New Moon

Yet, this is no ordinary New Moon because during the New Moon phase, there’s an overload of planets in Aquarius. In fact, six of the seven traditional planets/stars are in Aquarius – Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter & Saturn. The only exception is Mars in Taurus (see chart below)

The last time such a stellar line-up occurred was back in February 1962 when the New Moon on February 5th had all seven traditional planets in Aquarius.

This could be quite extraordinary for anyone born during the last incredible Aquarius line-up. It could also be a remarkable time for all Aquarians – notice who steps up to make their mark.

Extra Buzz

This New Moon has extra buzz because the Sun and Moon at 23 Aquarius are in a square aspect to action planet Mars at 18 Taurus.

Uranus is in there too as it’s at 7 Taurus and square to Saturn in Aquarius at 6 Aquarius. Next week, their planetary aspect perfects for the first time in 2021 – old v. new; fear of change v. radical action. I’ll be writing more about what this means next week.

Head Over Heart

There are some important pointers to note about this New Moon. Firstly, Aquarius is a fixed air sign so this is a time when head rules over heart. Emotions are detached as reason takes over. Yet, note that Mars’ square ready to flare up & unleash its passion & fury.

Fixed signs can be stubborn and dogmatic – it’s always an interesting conundrum for Aquarius that their traditional ruler Saturn likes to play by the rules while their modern ruler Uranus likes to break the rules. Notice whether you find yourself taking sides now or playing devil’s advocate.

There’s an eccentric, futuristic quality to this month’s New Moon and sometimes the best ideas are ahead of their time. Yet, it’s important during this New Moon to remember that science isn’t the only truth – anyone who knows the power of astrology will understand what I’m talking about.

Venus-Jupiter Love

Also, note the Venus-Jupiter conjunction on the day of the New Moon. It falls at 12 Aquarius and together, these two planets represent big (Jupiter) love (Venus). This is an abundant and giving combination – the two best planets coming together.

It’s going to be an interesting time if you have key planets/angles close to the New Moon degree – 23 Aquarius and/or the Venus-Jupiter degree – 12 Aquarius. Truly a special New Moon.

What Does It Mean For You?

Knowing where Aquarius is in your chart will help you decide what this means for you and which area of your life is ripe for action. In the following list, read your Sun Sign and your Ascendant for the complete picture:

  • Aquarius: personal goals, physical body, image & appearance
  • Pisces: retreat, secrets, inner work, personal issues
  • Aries: friends, groups, social networks, hopes & wishes
  • Taurus: career, vocation, status & reputation, future path
  • Gemini: foreign connections, exploration, higher education, knowledge
  • Cancer: joint finances, shared resources, taboo issues, metaphysical realm
  • Leo: relationships, 1-to-1 interactions, contracts & joint ventures
  • Virgo: work, everyday lifestyle, health, routine
  • Libra: love affairs, children, creativity, entertainment, speculation
  • Scorpio: home, family, your past, where you come from
  • Sagittarius: communication, education, local community, siblings
  • Capricorn: personal money, possessions, values, self-worth

Remember that timing is the key to make the full potential of this New Moon. What you set in place now could boost into rocket mode over the next couple of weeks.

Plus, as Aquarius is one of the air signs, this stimulates the power of thinking, magical & logical, and your social connections both on- and off-line.

Mercury Retrograde

Yet, there may be nothing that needs to be decided right now even if new opportunities abound. This is because communication planet Mercury is also in the Aquarius pack and currently retrograde, i.e in retreat.

While Mercury’s on go slow, it’s time to mull over the options, try out different ideas and know that nothing needs to be definite.

Mercury turns direct on February 21st, so what starts this week during the New Moon phase could come to fruition in ten days time. It’s all spookily synchronous during the most remarkable New Moon of the year.

Crescent Moon

New Moon energy kicks in a couple of days after the exact New Moon. Keep an eye out for the crescent Moon in the sky which will appear at the weekend. Make a wish and set your intentions.

New Moon Aquarius

Pallas Athena

If you’re wondering what the other symbol is in the Aquarius line-up, it’s the asteroid Pallas, the strategist. Cool-headed Pallas, weaver of patterns, has never moved far away from the major astrology of 2020 & 2021 – bearing witness, a wise & sane influence.

  1. Geez – I’ve been bored for the first time in years. All these Aqua planets hitting my 10th house, I want to get out there and do something; not be sat at home reading or doing the crossword as I’ve been happy to do for so long. But, on the other hand, that Mars-Uranus in my 1st don’t want to have give up *my* time for other people! Can feel that square tension.
