Libra (23 September-23 October)
Things start to heat up quickly as December gets underway and if you’re a typically sociable Libran, you can expect to be busy. The Sun is in Sagittarius as the month begins, the sign that rules your local community, commuting, siblings, neighbours and making new friends.
You’re often caught up in the hustle and bustle of life when planets are in this sector of your chart and it suggests that you’ll be enjoying the run up to Christmas.
A New Moon in Sagittarius on the 3rd promises new beginnings and it’s a perfect day to attend a local event or to network and reach out to others.
Communication is powerful on this New Moon and whatever you initiate or begin will grow and flourish. So be spontaneous and make an important phone call or send that one email that’s going to make the most difference.
This is a lovely month to be spontaneous and to accept any last-minute invitations that come your way. Take note of what happens on the 10th when Mercury (communication) and Uranus, the planet of spontaneity, connect in a harmonious trine aspect. This promises good news as Mercury is in Sagittarius and your communication sector from the 5th-24th.
There may also be new developments on the love front on or around this date and a week later on the 17th when Uranus turns direct in your opposite sign of Aries and your relationship sector. Tuesdays are looking good in December so maybe it’s a regular class or weekly event where you meet someone new or feel inspired by the people you’re with.
Uranus is an unpredictable quality however and for some Uranus may bring shocks as well as surprises, especially on the latter date the 17th.
If your birthday falls on the first two days of October, you have Uranus opposite your Sun in Libra and depending where your Sun is in your chart, this suggests things happening quickly and events taking place out of the blue. Be willing to be flexible but also be aware that life has an edgy feel when Uranus is in play and it’s harder to keep a tight control of your life because of other people or outside events.
Another major planetary movement this month involves Mars the planet of action entering your sign of Libra on the 7th where it remains for an unusually long time until late July 2014. This is bound to make you feel more ambitious and competitive and it’s a great time to work on your fitness and to be physical. The stronger you feel in your body, the sharper you are in your mind and the more you can make happen.
Mars rules passion so desire will play a key role in your life whether you’re chasing after someone new, you’re ready to inject some extra oomph into your sex life or you realise how important a personal goal is to you and you decide to take the necessary steps in order to turn a dream into reality. Begin the dream now and complete it next summer.
Mars rules anger however and it’s not especially comfortable in your sign of Libra as you’re ruled by Mars’ counterpart, Venus, the planet of love, peace and harmony. Mars often has an independent agenda and doesn’t want to have to compromise. That’s not your way at all so whether this indicates some battles along the way or discovering where in life you need to stand your ground more, tempers could flare easily.
Christmas and New Year look especially punchy this year as Mars clashes with Uranus on Christmas Day and squares up to Pluto on New Years Eve. This isn’t ideal for a harmonious festive season but at least forewarned is forearmed. We may all need to chill a little more this festive season and avoid any major arguments. Being a Libran, you’re the master of diplomacy but I suspect that this year even you may find it hard to keep calm if someone close is behaving badly.

Family are big news for you right now as Venus, your ruling planet, is down at the base of your chart in the sign of Capricorn so this is about needing to look after the ones you love and at times this will be out of a sense of duty or obligation rather than free will. Venus turns retrograde on the 21st and remains on go slow until the end of January 2014. You may find that you can’t push ahead with a family occasion or domestic situation as quickly as you would like but don’t panic if you’re trying to sell and it’s not happening or your builder disappears.
Things invariably slow down when your ruling planet’s retrograde and the tide will turn allowing you to move ahead with confidence in February. It’s also worth your while mulling over a big decision with regard to home and family matters and perhaps taking your time before you change your situation. Venus retrograde urges you to be more reflective and to turn your attention inward.
Finally this month, it’s worth noting that work and money matters are looking positive. A wonderful Jupiter/Saturn trine on the 13th feels constructive combining optimism and good fortune with practical results.
