Libra (23 September – 23 October)
It may feel like a major start to a new year, whether this is because of the decisions you’re making or external events that take place. Astrologically, this is because two planetary events occur on the 2nd and both are important for you.
Firstly, there’s a Full Moon in the skies which falls in the star sign Cancer at the peak of your chart. This is about your career and vocation, your status and reputation, where you’re heading and why. Full Moons are often revealing and they’re a good time to trust your intuition when you see your situation clearly.
Use the planetary energy as January begins to visualise what next in your life and plan ahead, especially when it comes to your work and vocation. Notice what feels right, as this is important during the Full Moon when emotions are heightened.
There’s another big event on the 2nd and this is the planet of change, Uranus, turning direct in your opposite star sign Aries. This brings other people into the picture because Aries rules your close relationships, both personal and professional.
Uranus has been in Aries for the last seven years but it’s now starting to complete its journey through your relationships sector. On May 15th, later this year, it leaves Aries and enters the earth sign Taurus. Uranus is an unpredictable element so it’s likely that your relationships have been volatile or a roller-coaster ride over recent years.
One relationship in particular could have a big impact on you early in January so get ready for the unexpected and don’t allow someone else’s behaviour to change your own.
As January begins, your ruler Venus is steady in the earth sign Capricorn, where it remains until the 18th. This indicates a desire to move forward slowly and find your feet, even if those around you are not in the same place. Capricorn rules your home and family sector, your past and where you come from. The focus turns to your foundations and putting down roots with Venus here.
Plus, there are two slower-moving planets in Capricorn, Saturn and Pluto, and this means you’re having to consider the future and build for the long-term. It’s not always easy wherever you find these planets, but aim for slow and steady progress rather than expect things to happen quickly.
Money is also pulled into the equation and you have to take swift action early in the month to secure your finances. Action planet Mars is in Scorpio and your personal money sector until the 26th and this is where you also find lucky Jupiter.
In fact, these two planets come together on the 7th which could prove to be a peak date for money and success. There’s an enthusiastic and energetic vibe to Mars and Jupiter and this is a powerful time to fight for what’s rightfully yours.
The 7th to the 10th is a period that’s packed full of dynamic planetary activity, although one door may have to close before you can open a new door. Consider your financial situation carefully and, if it’s time to stop paying out, perhaps on a property or supporting a family member, this is the time to be decisive.
One weekend that’s not ideal for making swift decisions is the 13th/14th when volatile Uranus clashes with key planets in your home and family sector. Sometimes your natural intuition is off when Uranus is in conflict and you can’t trust other people to behave well either.
The best time for you with regard to money and home and property matters is the 16th/17th of the month. Firstly, there’s a stunning Jupiter-Pluto connection on the 16th and this is the first of three encounters between these two big planets. Jupiter in Scorpio is boosting your wealth and is a lucky omen for money. Pluto in Capricorn gives a nod to your past and the passing on of money, wealth or a legacy.
This symbol often implies digging deep to uncover hidden riches. Delve into your past and your home and family connections to see how you can improve your cash situation and help out others close to you in the process. Either that, or you recognise where and when you need to cut ties that link money and emotions.
The following day, on the 17th, there’s a New Moon in Capricorn, a symbol of new beginnings. This is an excellent date to set your intentions and start afresh with a family project or a home or property matter.
You have to take these areas seriously now and you can’t cut corners. This will become evident to you on the 13th and 24th when communication planet Mercury runs first into Saturn, then Pluto. Get things in writing this month and if you need to be in touch with the authorities, do so.
It’s not all serious issues, however, as Mercury retraces its steps through fire sign Sagittarius up until the 11th. This is great for socialising and communication in general. Plus, you’re paving the way for Mars’ move into Sagittarius on the 26th where it remains until March 17th. This is a good time to connect with your local community, catch up with siblings and neighbours and reach out to other people.
Fun’s there to be had after the 18th too, when your ruler Venus moves into Aquarius and the sector of your horoscope that rules good times, romance, children & pregnancy. Turn your attention to these areas and what you want more of. Revive a long-term relationship or seek out someone new.
Finally, there is a Lunar Eclipse on the 31st, cutting across the Leo/Aquarius axis of the zodiac. This often brings drama but also surprises your way and it’s a time when love and romance can change your life significantly.
