Libra (23 September – 23 October)
Take your time heading into the New Year, especially if you there are things you want to sort out with regard to your home and family, your past and where you come from. This is because over Christmas 2016, communication planet Mercury was retrograde in Capricorn and this same sector of your chart.
Sometimes Mercury retrograde can throw up misunderstandings and it’s best to wait until Mercury is direct or back up to speed before trying to sort things out. Mercury only turns direct on January 8th in Sagittarius and your communication sector.
This is therefore a promising date for an important conversation, whether you want to pick up the phone and reconnect with someone close or there’s someone you forgot to get in touch with over the festive season.
Mercury returns to Capricorn on January 12th and this could be an important date for a couple of reasons. This is when you can start moving things forward with regard to home and property matters, a family issue or big event.
Yet on the same date there’s a powerful Full Moon taking place and this indicates that this isn’t just about one issue but a complex picture. This is an important Full Moon for different reasons. Firstly, the Moon is in Cancer, the sign at the top of your chart representing your career and vocation, your status and reputation.
Full Moons are linked to completion or achievement, a time when you see your situation with clarity. So this Full Moon might be a pivotal moment for you when you feel ready to make some key decisions about your future path. Yet there’s more to unravel first.
The Moon opposes the Sun in Capricorn down at the base of your chart alongside Pluto. So here there’s a theme of moving on, letting go of the past. In addition, the Full Moon is squared by a major opposition between Jupiter and Uranus, the freedom planets. Jupiter is currently in your sign of Libra and Uranus is in Aries, your opposite sign.
This whole planetary pattern creates a Grand Cross in the sky and all four cardinal signs, Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn are loaded. Sometimes Grand Cross patterns feel like overwhelm, too much going on or being pulled in different directions.
The cardinal signs also represent action so this is about overdrive too, wanting to dive headlong into life and do things your way. If you take action during this Full Moon, just make sure you think things through carefully.
Plus, other people are likely to play a key role now whether there are changes to your partner’s job or lifestyle or important events at work or at home which mean you need to juggle your own routine.
This feels like a decisive Full Moon for you whether you’re chasing after the one you love to go and live with them or you’re running away from a situation that’s difficult on a personal level.
Your personal relationships are under the cosmic spotlight now and will continue to dominate your life for a few months yet. Mercury in your home and family sector only moves out of its shadow phase on January 27th, the day before your partner planet Mars enters Aries and your relationship sector. So events close to the end of the month might be important too.
It does feel as if you don’t hold all the cards you need right now and perhaps there’s no way to control someone close to you, whether on a personal or professional level. They are going to do what they want and you have to play catch up.
If anything, new love is easier in January especially after the 19th when the Sun enters Aquarius and your romance sector. If you’re looking for love, the New Moon in Aquarius on January 28th could prove special.
This is also an important month for you to mull things over and spend some time reflecting on your current situation, especially with regard to your work and routine, your lifestyle and your health. This is because your ruling planet Venus enters Pisces and this sector of your chart on January 3rd where it remains throughout the month.
Mars is here too so there’s a lot of action in this part of your chart. You might be making important lifestyle changes now, perhaps to benefit both you and your partner. You might have picked up a cold over the festive season and be finding it hard to shake off completely.
Where work’s concerned, you’re flowing along but you may not feel comfortable in the direction of flow. If you work in a creative or artistic field however or you serve other people in some way, then you’re likely to start the year on a high. Neptune teams up with Mars on January 1st and Venus on January 12th so Neptune’s influence is strong.
Yet this planet can also leave you feeling insecure, as if you’re standing on shifting sand. If you feel that you’re in the wrong job, you’ll feel more unsettled this month. The same goes if you’re unsure about whether a job is going to last or a contract be extended, for example.
The time to have those all important conversations is later in the month but don’t let negative vibes bring you down. Try and remain upbeat and know that when it comes to your working life, it’s important to focus on your network and connections. It’s through other people that you can make progress now, whether winning over a person of influence or finding a way to connect with your current team.
In the meantime, go with the flow, explore what you want and why. Next month’s astrology will bring another opportunity to make your mark if this month’s Full Moon doesn’t hit the right spot.
