Leo (23 July-22 August)
As the month of July begins it may feel as if you’re trying to navigate your life from a submarine that’s in the depths of the sea. In other words, it’s hard if not impossible to see your way forward and to understand some of the changes taking place. The message that’s coming across loud and clear is to wait, be patient and see what emerges.
There are a couple of reasons for this but the most obvious is Mercury, planet of communication and the mind, in retrograde motion until the 20th of July. More importantly for you, Mercury is currently in Cancer the sign before yours turning your attention inward.
Not only is this a deeply reflective time but with Mercury on go slow it’s doubly deeply reflective. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself going over old ground or returning to the past more than usual. Nostalgia and sentimental emotions may dominate your life and feel as if you’re being pulled backwards unable to look ahead for now and decide what next.
When it comes to making big decisions in your life, you’re wise to wait until mid-month at least and see what emerges on or around the 20th of July. When Mercury turns direct new information often comes to light and for you personally you may start to understand what you need to do in order to make progress.
Looking back could be a major theme for the year ahead as Jupiter, planet of opportunity, has also moved into Cancer where it will remain for twelve months. The sign before yours is hidden as it’s the sector of privacy and retreat. Often when planets are in this sector of your chart, for some reason you need or want more peace and quiet and a chance to be still and reflective.
You’re building strength before you enter the world again ready for the next phase in your life. In our modern day society, it’s not always easy to find the time and space to take a sabbatical, go on retreat or spend more time on your own. Even small changes will benefit you whilst Jupiter’s in Cancer, whether you learn meditation or prioritise rest and relaxation in some shape or form.
This month may be decision time for a relationship as your partner planet Saturn turns direct on the 8th and there’s a Full Moon in your relationship sector on the 22nd. Expect big events on or around these dates that help you decide whether to commit or quit. Saturn is down at the base of your chart so your responsibilities or challenges at home and with regard to your family, such as an older parent or a lack of space, need to be taken into account.
The period from the 17th-19th July may bring answers your way as a magical grand trine takes place in the heavens. This involves Jupiter in Cancer trine to Saturn in Scorpio and Neptune in Pisces. It’s interesting that this event takes place just before Mercury picks up speed as the water signs rule emotion but also intuition.
So the more aware you are of how you’re feeling rather than what you’re thinking will guide you and lead you home. Trying to make sense of life rationally this month is the equivalent of swimming against the tide. So trust that you will know what to do and which way to turn when the time is ready.
Other people may be involved in this process but indirectly rather than face-to-face. A private benefactor, money that comes from an unexpected source, the kindness of strangers or favours repaid from your past. The grand water trine is your personal equivalent of a guardian angel or a fairy godmother.
Life’s not all murky and deep this month, however, as key planets are moving through your own sign of Leo and at the start of the month, this is where you’ll find Venus, the good time planet. Venus remains in Leo until the 22nd and it’s your cue to do more of what you love. Venus is about pleasure and indulgence and enjoying life to the full and being grateful for what you have. Treat yourself whilst Venus is in Leo and be good to yourself too.
Hanging out with your girlfriends brings happy experiences your way and if you’re looking for love, this month provides the perfect opportunity with the 8th-10th July your peak period for meeting someone new. As with all things this month, however, take your time and don’t feel as if you need to rush into a new relationship. Savour life slowly and get to know someone on a deep level before making any key decision about love.
Finally this month, the Sun enters Leo on the 22nd heralding your birthday month which not only boosts your confidence but helps you feel as if you’re back in charge. Financial matters require your attention as the month comes to a close and you’re wise to ensure that you’re not letting money slip through your fingers. Tidy up your accounts and get your life back on track.
