Gemini (21 May – 20 June)
There’s no need to rush as May begins as the planets are on go slow and your ruling planet Mercury in particular. Mercury is not only retrograde in the heavens, i.e. in retreat until May 22nd but it’s also in the most hidden sector of your chart.
Put the two together and this isn’t a time for dashing forward at top speed. In fact, there may be a specific reason now why life is quieter than usual or you feel more introverted and want to spend some time on your own.
This can be a tricky sector of your chart because sometimes you’re caring for others or you need to care for yourself more than usual. You might be holed up for all the wrong reasons or feel that your confidence has left you.
It can be wise to reprogram this kind of experience as a chance to regroup, to reflect and review what next. It might be an important time of preparation when you’re getting ready for a busy period in your life or you’re doing research or revising for exams.
Secrets and confidences are also part and parcel of this part of your chart so you might be dealing with information that you’re unable to reveal just yet. This can weigh heavy upon you or perhaps you suspect someone else of not telling you the whole truth.
If this is the case, don’t feel that you have to push for answers right now and in fact, in all areas of communication, you’re wise to play a waiting game until your ruler Mercury turns direct in the heavens on May 22nd. Until that date, you might not get the full story anyway and you can’t believe everything you hear whilst Mercury is retrograde.
This is a wonderful time to pamper yourself, to go on retreat, to do things that help you slow down the pace of life. Learn to meditate, do yoga, garden, cook or engage in sensual activities. Life’s not a race to be lived at top speed and sometimes it benefits you to pull back so you have time to ponder, to think, to reflect.
You might also find that you’re pulled back towards your past now or you’re more closely involved with your family or people you grew up with. The planet of opportunity and growth, Jupiter, is currently down at the base of your chart in Virgo, the sign which rules home and family affairs.
Jupiter turns direct in the heavens on May 9th and the first two weeks in May would be brilliant to revisit the past or take a trip down memory lane. You might be busy cleaning or renovating or sorting out home and family affairs. It’s a wonderful time for a celebration, a reunion, a chance to catch up with friends and family for the past. There might be a sad reason for this but Jupiter’s in protective mode and you’ll want to be close to the ones you love.
Money matters too are highlighted early in the month and close to the New Moon in Taurus on May 6th, there might be a chance to sort out a financial situation that’s been worrying you or has been unresolved up until now. The planet of loss and transformation, Pluto, is currently in Capricorn and your joint finance sector so all money arrangements are important now.
You might be dealing with an inheritance, savings or debts, a mortgage or taxes and early May is a positive period to work things out. Turn to your family or someone from your past for support if necessary and if you’re in a position to help others out, team up with family or loved ones to make your money go further or to benefit someone close in a difficult situation.
Things begin to shift two-thirds of the way through May when the Sun enters your sign of Gemini on the 20th. This can sometimes feel like a switch flicking from off to on, your energy shifts and your confidence is on the rise. You feel more comfortable in your own skin and ready to get things moving.
Two days later, Mercury, your ruling planet, is back up to speed and although Mercury has a way to go before it enters Gemini, you could find that news or information you’ve been waiting for comes to light. You might sense that even if things aren’t flying in your life, you’re starting to move in the right direction.
This period however could be troublesome for one particular relationship and this is due to the Full Moon which takes place on the 21st cutting across the Gemini/Sagittarius axis of your chart. Sagittarius is the sign which rules your 1-to-1 relationships and with both Saturn, the taskmaster of the heavens, and a retrograde Mars currently in Sagittarius, this could bring frustrations.
Whether it’s a personal or professional partnership that reaches crisis point or another significant 1-to-1 relationship, the end of May feels challenging. Mars rules passion and anger and on go slow, it indicates that things aren’t working out or frustrations are building.
Once love planet Venus enters your sign of Gemini on the 24th, you might see your way forward more clearly but Venus and Mars also clash on the 25th. Something’s got to give at this point and if you’ve been involved in a relationship that’s been troubling you in any way, these run of planetary aspects beginning with the Full Moon indicate it’s ultimatum time.
If you’ve been involved in an affair with Venus hidden away in your chart or you have unrequited feelings for someone, these may be the reasons why you need to decide what next. One way or another, you have to bring things out into the open so you can either commit or quit and the same goes for the other person involved.
Trying to keep love light or play the field in relationships won’t be easy later in May and if you fall for someone who’s unavailable, this too could highlight trouble. It’s important that you take care of yourself and when it comes to love, you do whatever’s best for the both of you.
