Capricorn (22 December – 19 January)
It’s your birthday month and as January begins there are three planetary bodies in your sign of Capricorn, the Sun, Mercury and Venus. Plus, the Moon is in your fellow earth sign of Taurus on New Year’s Day so this is a cue to do the things that you love.
Focus on fun and pleasure and make the most of the first few days of a New Year. Set your intentions and make sure that love, children, creative projects and entertainment are high on the list.
The Sun remains in Capricorn until the 20th, a key turning point in the month and for most of January, the Sun has a smooth run through the heavens. Put yourself and your own needs first and remember that when the Sun is in your sign, it’s your turn to shine bright. In particular, the focus is on your personal goals, your image and appearance and doing whatever’s necessary to feel comfortable in your own skin.
Yet early in the month there’s a power surge of energy due to a Full Moon on the 5th that cuts across the Cancer/Capricorn axis of your chart. Emotions are often heightened during the Full Moon and this is a particularly punchy Full Moon as it links in to the Uranus-Pluto square that has dominated the heavens for some time.
Pluto is in your sign of Capricorn and when you have Pluto transiting your Sun, you’re dealing with themes of darkness leading ultimately to transformation. It’s not an easy challenge especially if you’re the type of Capricorn who likes to be in control and in charge. Uranus is in Aries ruling your home and family, your past and where you come from and Uranus is in square aspect to Pluto in Capricorn bringing unseen challenges and the unexpected.
In some respect, this is nothing new as the Uranus-Pluto square has been in effect since June 2012 but this Full Moon is especially powerful if your birthday falls a day or two either side of the 5th. The Uranus-Pluto square serves as a reminder that ultimately we’re not in control, that events happen and it’s how we react or respond to them that makes all the difference.
The weekend of the 3rd/4th and the Full Moon on the 5th are all linked and you may need to make a big decision regarding love, 1-to-1 relationships, home and family early on in 2015. The theme of the Uranus-Pluto square is often ‘out with the old and in with the new’ and what you let go of may be as important as what you begin as 2015 gets underway.
Money matters too are highlighted this month and during the first part of the year. There’s a lively and adventurous opposition on New Year’s Day between Mars in Aquarius and Jupiter in Leo. You may be ready to take a risk with regard to cash and investments, savings and debts and as Mars rules action and Jupiter rules optimism, you’re wise to start the year as you mean to go on with regard to money.
Both Venus and Mercury enter Aquarius and your money sector on the 3rd and 5th respectively so this is where the energy’s at whether you’re looking at new ways to earn money or you’re dealing with debts, a mortgage, inheritance or investments. Jupiter in Leo is boosting the ways you handle money matters and joint ventures and shared resources are especially well-starred. Money may come in via a third party, perhaps as a gift or a show of generosity.
Whatever your personal situation with regard to cash, this is the month to look closely at what money means to you and how much you value what you earn and what you own. Saturn your ruling planet is now in Sagittarius and the most spiritual sector of your chart so for some this is about moving away from materialism to a more spiritual place. Let go of some of your possessions or find ways to benefit others with your money. You may discover your inner philanthropist or want to lead a more simple existence.
The New Moon on the 20th also falls in Aquarius but the following day, Mercury turns retrograde in this same sector of your chart. This is a powerful indicator that the big moves with regard to money need to take place before the 21st. After that date, you’re wise to wait until February 11th when Mercury turns direct and picks up speed. Mercury retrograde can cause communication chaos and it’s not the time to be making big decisions where money’s concerned.
What’s most important to note is that it’s the ideas you generate and the seeds you sow before the 21st that can take root and grow and will come to fruition late February and early March. Timing is the key to your success.
Finally this month, both Mars and Venus enters Pisces and your communication sector on the 12th and 27th respectively. You may be changing the way you communicate or be acutely aware of the power and influence of your words and what you have to say. Use images and pictures to convey your key concepts and explore the way you communicate with others. At times you may find it hard to get across your message and there are times when you realise that silence is a gift. Listening becomes more important than talking.
