Capricorn (22 December – 20 January)
Weighty personal decisions are the order of the day as May begins. It’s not easy to escape karma when your planet Saturn has just turned retrograde and is now tracking the South Node through your star sign.
Turning Inwards
This combination turns your attention inwards. Think of this as an opportunity to let go and release what no longer serves you. There might be an instant solution but, in some cases, this could be the start of four-month project or challenge.
Events at the start of May can help reveal more and give you insight and understanding into what this means for you. On the 1st & 2nd, Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn clash with Mercury in Aries. On the 7th & 9th, the same two planets clash with Venus in Aries.
Aries is your home and family sector, your past and where you come from. Mercury rules communication and Venus rules close relationships. Put this all together and it looks as if you’re having to deal with past issues before you can move on.
You might be caring for a parent or child, you may be taking a trip into the past to your family home or the place you were born. Or perhaps, you’re shedding stuff from the past that you no longer need. This could be in the shape of possessions, selling a property or letting go of past beliefs that are of no benefit.
Seek the Light
In to the midst of this key planetary activity comes Jupiter in Sagittarius, the person with the positive outlook, your leaning towards trust, hope and faith. Don’t allow negative people or negative thought hold you back. Look at new ways, new opportunities to find the light and dispel the shadow.
For some of you, this may lead you towards a spiritual path, a religion or faith. For others, you recognise the promise of freedom and lining up new wants and needs for your future path. Jupiter’s a positive influence in your life, once you identify who or what it means for you.
More Play
Also, there’s strong earth sign energy this month and this too is a clue where happiness can be found. Throughout May, the inner planets are moving steadily through Taurus and the sector of your horoscope that rules play and entertainment, children and fun, romance and good times.
The Sun is here until the 21st and the New Moon on the 4th falls in this part of your birth chart. New Moons are a symbol of new beginnings, great for setting intentions and sowing seeds. If you’re feeling bored, you want a change of scene or you’re ready to do something wild and exciting, leap into action on the New Moon.
The fortnight after the New Moon is ideal for new initiatives, being proactive and getting ahead. If you’ve fallen into the trap of work, this month’s planetary activity is an opportunity to recalibrate and find a healthier work/life balance.
Sensual Cravings
Taurus is a sensual earth sign, hands on and benefits from walks in nature, cooking, gardening, massage, sculpture and art. Find yourself a hobby and tap into your creative side. Do whatever works for you so you feel grounded and connected to the earth.
There is another factor in Taurus right now that brings something electric, different, a little bit crazy. This is the planet Uranus representing change which took up residence in Taurus in March of this year.
Uranus is in action this month on the 8th and the 18th. At its best, Uranus is a spontaneous influence, urging you to be wild, hedonistic and enjoy yourself. If you’re a typical Capricorn, you’re not the impulsive type. Yet, this month, you could find that other people and external events are the catalyst, the trigger for surprises.
It may be your children or grandchildren who are a good influence on you. It might be a lover, a new romance that leaves you feeling giddy and playful. Or perhaps, it’s being around younger friends, unconventional and alternative types whose outlook and views on life are exciting and refreshing. Open yourself up to adventure and new experiences. Life is calling you forth.
Work Progress
Work and routine, lifestyle and health are also in the cosmic mix this month. Action planet, Mars, is in Gemini and this sector of your horoscope until the 16th. Mars is ambitious and go-getting. This adds drive to your determination to get your working life in order and to find time for healthy activities too.
On the 21st, the Sun and Mercury move into Gemini as well. In fact, on the same day, there’s a super conjunction of the Sun and Mercury, bringing a lightbulb moment, a stroke of genius. This would be an excellent date to line up an important work meeting or interview or to apply for a job.
You might receive good news or find yourself coming up with a great idea that you want to share with everyone. The key to work success and progress is to act fast in May and make things happen.
Passionate Liaisons
Love is also under the cosmic spotlight later in the month once passion planet Mars enters Cancer and your relationship sector on the 16th. Two days later, there’s an intense Full Moon in Scorpio on the 18th and a Venus/Uranus conjunction promises fun and games.
Anything goes at this Full Moon but it’s gorgeous for new love and opening your heart. Mars and Uranus unite on the 22nd keeping the feel-good vibe continuing for a while longer. There are never any guarantees where Uranus is concerned but that’s partly the nature of love. Grab it while you can.
