Cancer April 2017

Cancer

Cancer (21 June – 22 July)

As April begins, the Sun is in Aries, the sign at the peak of your birth chart, representing your career and vocation, your status and reputation. Traditionally this is the time to aim high and the Sun remains here until the 19th.

Yet this is no ordinary month and you might find you have some big decisions to make now when it comes to your future and what next in life. There may be different reasons for this but one is perhaps linked to colleagues, a business partner, someone you work with on a regular basis.

This is because the planet of relating, Venus, has been in Aries since early February but on the 3rd of this month, Venus retreats back into Pisces. This means that Venus is retrograde, i.e. on go slow, and has been moving back through Aries and your career sector since March 4th.

This can indicate problems with someone you work with, someone who’s gone quiet on you or disappeared. You may have been in love with someone at work or infatuated with your boss or a person in a position of power.

Either way, things need to shift now and it’s time to try a different approach. Perhaps this person leaves your place of work or you decide that you’re ready to take a break. Know too that Venus in Pisces lights up your travel sector and Venus turns direct over the Easter weekend on Saturday 15th.

So a trip away, a holiday, some time out, a short sabbatical, this could be what you need now to get your head around what’s happening at work, at home and where you’re heading next.

There could be some kind of block or limitation around what you do on a daily basis. This is because Saturn clashes with Venus on the 8th and 21st and Saturn is currently in Sagittarius, ruling your work and routine, your lifestyle and your health.

You might need time out to look after you or perhaps you’re bored with your current position or role. This is not a month when you can avoid what you’re feeling and if you recognise that change would be a good thing, here’s your opportunity.

It may even take you being pushed or challenged in some way for you to recognise that it’s time to think again. Where do your priorities lie?

The other major planetary event that’s important with regard to the bigger picture of your life is the Full Moon which takes place on the 11th. This Full Moon cuts across the foundations of your chart as it falls in the sign of Libra, ruling your home and family, your past and where you come from.

At the Full Moon, the Moon in Libra is opposite the Sun in Aries and they pull in the powerful Jupiter-Uranus-Pluto T-square that’s dominating the heavens for much of 2017. This combination is about change and at its best can signify a breakthrough, a valuable realisation. Yet squares are clashing so perhaps you feel pulled in different directions.

Being a Sun Cancer, home and family are important to you and the Moon sits next to lucky Jupiter in Libra during this Full Moon period. It might be hard for you now if other people don’t agree with what you want and extremely challenging if your own happiness depends on other peoples’ actions.

This Full Moon creates conflict between home and family, your partner or ex, your career and future path. See what’s illuminated during the Full Moon and over Easter, make your move. There’s nothing to be gained now from staying put and in fact, it might well be that life steps in to move you forward.

You could even decide to do something crazy and unexpected, whether this is a decision to leave your place of work, to put love before career or move to a completely new location. Anything goes and it’s the Easter weekend, the 14th and 15th, when you’re ready to say Yes to life.

Yet there is another factor to take into account and this is Mercury retrograde. Mercury is the communication planet and on the 10th, Mercury switches direction and will be on go slow until May 3rd. In addition, Mercury re-enters Aries on the 20th so this could indicate more twists and turns and make any simple decision more complex.

Often when Mercury’s in retreat, you have to go back over old ground or review or reassess your situation. Events early in the month may well bring clarity, a desire to act but you can’t run before you walk with Mercury on go slow.

In fact, some of the decisions you make now or the steps you take will have to be revisited next month. It’s only mid-May when there’s a surge of energy and after some stops and starts you’re back in flow. Bear this in mind during April and know that this is a complex month with two of the personal planets retrograde.

When it comes to love, the astrology symbolises that a holiday romance could be what you need but it may not continue when you get back to your everyday life. The 6th is an important date for your 1-to-1’s when your partner planet Saturn changes direction in the zodiac and there’s a powerful Mars-Pluto connection. Pluto is currently in Capricorn and your relationship sector.

There’s solidity in these planetary aspects and you’re likely to know whether a relationship is on or off, where it works well or where it doesn’t. Does a partner give you what you want or does s/he back away? Be firm in your relationships and state your terms. This is a potentially unsettling month so let a partner know if you need more from them.

Friends too are there for you once the Sun enters Taurus and your friendship sector on the 19th. Yet with Mercury up to its tricks, you may also recognise who’s loyal and who’s not. So many areas of life now are in flux, shifting, changing. Use this time wisely to sort out what you want and who to draw closer in to your private circle.
