Stop-Start
As September begins, your energy levels are in a push-pull race. One minute you’re raring to go, the next you may feel demotivated or halted in your tracks.
This has a lot to do with the fact that your ruling planet Mars is in your star sign Aries and Mars is linked to drive and ambition, anger and passion.
Mars is a planet that wants things to happen quickly as it represents speed and an adrenalin rush. When you have Mars in your star sign, this turns you into a fighter and you want to win. In any competitive situation, you have the required grit and determination to get ahead.
Aries rules your personal goals and aims, your image and profile so this is about you and what you want out of life.
Mars Square Saturn
However, as September begins, Mars is square to Saturn, the planet of limitation, obstacles, a slow and immovable force. They made an exact square aspect on August 24th and remain locked in battle throughout September. They meet again on September 29th, the day that Saturn turns direct in Capricorn.
Consider what this means for you. The spotlight is clearly on your career and vocation and your future path. Mars in Aries wants to be active on the move, independent and courageous. Saturn may stop you moving forward, perhaps because fear kicks in or you find an obstacle in your path.
Yet, this may also be the trigger for change. Both planets are strong and Saturn is giving you much-needed grit and determination. It might be a month when you need to dig your heels in and refuse to give up on your personal goals and aims.
For some of you, this could be a month when a job comes to an end. Or, you decide you’ve had enough of a difficult boss or a situation where you’re not in control.
Mars Retrograde
This is a classic feature of the Mars retrograde phase, which begins this month. Mars switches direction on September 9th and remains in retreat until November 13th. You may not be in charge or in control as much as you would like once Mars retraces its steps through the zodiac.
Mars in Aries can make you feel you’re super-human but you do have to pace yourself in September so as not to reach burn out. Mars retrograde is an indication that you need to take care of yourself and your energy levels.
Rein in your commitments and projects so you have less to do and can focus on the things that really matter. Make time for you and use the Mars retrograde phase to rework your strategy and dig deep.
Sometimes, it’s a good idea to be stealthy when Mars is in retreat, waiting for the right opportunity to make your move, which may come later this year.
Earth Sign Energy
Earth sign energy is strong in September and this puts the focus on the basics of life; money, work, feeding yourself and your family, keeping a roof over your head.
The Full Moon on the 2nd cuts across the health and well-being sector of your horoscope and the New Moon on the 17th highlights your work and routine, your lifestyle and being of service to others.
When in doubt, return to daily habits and simple pleasures. Focus on the things that really matter – like kindness, gratitude and a life rich with engagement.
In addition, big planet Jupiter turns direct in Capricorn on the 13th, a few days after a glorious Sun-Jupiter trine aspect on the 9th. This combination feels lucky so look out for new opportunities.
The theme is freedom, expanding your horizons, breaking free from ties, duties or responsibilities that hold you back. It’s not the easiest month but if you’re a typical Aries you’ll rise to the challenges in front of you.
Relationships & Being In Balance
Love too may be part of the picture, especially once romantic Venus moves into Leo and your romance sector on the 6th. This is a peak period for love and romantic relationships. A new romance is likely to be fired up with your current astrology.
Yet, Venus and Mars, the lovers of the heavens, clash on the 4th. This might only be a lover’s tiff but be aware that tempers could flare. Don’t take out your frustrations on the one you love. The 24th is another date when relationships may clash rather than be in alignment.
Balance is the theme of the Equinox when the Sun enters Libra on the 22nd. Yet, realigning the scales can take constant effort to find the perfect equilibrium. Yes, relationships are significant but primarily it’s a good month to focus on you and your next steps. How to keep everyone happy is a common theme.
Once Mars is on go slow, notice when you need to slow down, when you’re giving too much at work and aim to keep a healthy balance between work and play. Sometimes, it’s when life is out of balance that you start to recognise what needs to change.
At times this month, you’re running ahead fast but overdo it. Know that you may have to slam on the brakes and adjust your schedule accordingly. Yet, don’t miss out on the lovely astrology that’s wafting your way for a good part of the month.

quite accurate. I lost my job this month.
Oh, I’m sorry to hear that. Take care of yourself and keep exploring your options. Mars turning direct in Aries mid-November will be a significant turning point. Sending best wishes.
