Aries (21 March-19 April)
Mars your ruler starts the month of December in the earth sign Virgo and you’re wise to push ahead with work and routine matters early in the month. December’s often a month that whizzes by and if you don’t get yourself organised early on, you may find that life takes over and you’re caught up in the whirlwind of Christmas festivities.
Mars remains in Virgo until the 7th and this is great for list-making, ticking things off your ‘to do’ list and generally getting yourself organised early on in the run up to Christmas.
The 3rd is especially helpful for money matters when Mercury in Scorpio and your joint finance sector links to your ruler Mars in a helpful fashion. This is a good day to talk finances, whether you’re liaising with the bank/financial institutions or you’re chatting to family about present buying/Christmas arrangements.
With Saturn in one of your money sectors, it’s wise to plan for a thrifty Christmas and not get carried away with the tons of Christmas adverts and hype about spending. Think quality not quantity and remember it is the thought that counts. Plan your Christmas budget and stick to it.
The 13th is also an important date for money matters when Saturn makes a trine or harmonious aspect to the planet of plenty Jupiter. With Jupiter down at the base of your chart in the sign of Cancer, it’s via your family, home or property that you can improve your own financial situation or your future security. The ties that bind you and your links to the past are powerful and you may be reminded of this close to the Jupiter-Saturn trine. Reach out to the ones you love and remember the true message of Christmas.
If you’re a typical Aries you’ll prefer experiences and adventure to material possessions and if you’re going to behave impulsively this month, then rather book yourself a holiday or life-changing course than shop till you drop. The Sun is in your fellow fire sign of Sagittarius until the 21st and it’s joined by Mercury, the communication planet, from the 5th-24th so check out travel bargains or surf the net for interesting events or courses that catch your interest.
The New Moon on the 3rd is also in Sagittarius, a great day for planning a trip and the 10th and 17th are brilliant for spontaneous ideas and decisions too. Use the energy of the New Moon to initiate action and make things happen. Sow seeds between the New Moon and the Full Moon on the 17th and you can watch your ideas grow and develop as you move into 2014 and beyond. Uranus has been in your sign of Aries for a few years now and on the 17th Uranus turns direct so it’s energy is especially strong.
This is powerful if you have planets at 8 degrees Aries or your birthday falls in the last few days of March. Uranus brings the unexpected but it’s also about your need to live life fully, to ring the changes and do things differently. Uranus welcomes spontaneity into your life.
For some this month may represent an important turning point when you feel as if your senses are being reawakened and you see your life for what it truly is. The end of one year and the beginning of a new year is symbolically powerful. You look at where in life you’re ready to close doors and where you want to open new ones.
This Christmas is especially powerful for you and it may be with regard to a one-to-one relationship where the major change plays out and there are a number of reasons for this. Firstly, Mars your ruler enters Libra on the 7th and your opposite sign. It will remain in this sector of your chart until late July 2014 as Mars will turn retrograde in the spring i.e. give the illusion of moving backwards in the heavens next year. So relationships are going to be a key theme for you. There may be lessons around learning to compromise or teamwork and putting your passion, your all into a special relationship, whether personal or professional. With Mars in Libra there’s a sense that together you’re stronger.
However, it’s got to be said that when Mars is in your opposite sign you can’t always call the shots and the heat is on where relationships are concerned. Expect more arguments as certain issues move foreground: more passion yes, but more fire and heat too.
In addition, Venus, the planet of love, turns retrograde this month on the 21st. So both these factors together suggest that for some of you there’s going to be a key turnaround in an important relationship. Big decisions will be made whether it’s a commitment and an impulse to settle down or the knowledge that you’re in the wrong relationship and it’s time to move on. Whatever your personal situation, the big decisions can’t be avoided.
Finally this year Christmas Day and New Years Eve look especially punchy as Mars opposes Uranus on the 25th and squares Pluto on the 31st. This is not an easy combination by any means and most of us already know that the idyllic fantasy playing happy families over the holiday periods is rarely a reality.
Now you know that things could get lively, do your best to divert any difficult situation or create an intention to stay calm and not get involved if other people wind you up. Hold tight to the saying ‘Peace on Earth Goodwill to All Men’ (and women!) and with Mars in the peace-loving sign of Libra, ensure you’re the one who’s holding high the banner for harmonious relations.
