Your ruling planet Mars begins the month of August in the sign of Cancer where it remains until the 8th. Cancer is the sign that rules your home and family, your past and where you come from.

Mars is the planet of action and energy and wherever you find Mars in your chart, this helps you to get things done. Plus, Mars only makes one major planetary aspect this whole month and this backs up the theme of efficiency and determination.

On the 6th Mars is in a helpful trine aspect to Saturn and as Saturn is in the sector of your chart that rules joint finances, this is great news if you’re sorting out a mortgage, insurances, new home/loan agreement, etc. Plus you can work alongside family now to help out one another. Think of ways you can pool resources, live more efficiently, build a strong foundation for your future security.

Your money is definitely under the cosmic spotlight this month but that’s not to say it’s a month to be extravagant or flash with your cash. There are a couple of reasons for this. Firstly your money planet, Venus, is retrograde, i.e. on go slow throughout the month. Now’s the time to think of ways to save money or to invest in new money-making ventures, perhaps working alongside women to be canny with your cash.

Secondly, Jupiter, planet of opportunity and abundance, clashes with Saturn, planet of restriction and limits, on the 3rd. This is a square aspect which can spell trouble but actually this can be a helpful combination if you use the two planetary energies together. It’s time to be cautiously (Saturn) optimistic (Jupiter) and turn dreams (Jupiter) into reality (Saturn).

Again there’s a similar theme; how to live well, how to find the money you need to fulfil the lifestyle you dream of? This is definitely not a month to squash your love of life or to do less of the things you enjoy but at the same time, don’t go wild or act on impulse without proper planning and organisation.

Yet Saturn isn’t as dominant now as the planets that are boosting your fellow fire sign of Leo and this is where your main focus lies. For the last 13 months Jupiter has been in your fellow fire sign of Leo and on the 8th, this is the sign your ruling planet Mars enters. Leo rules all the good things in life, such as children, love affairs, creativity and entertainment. This is the month to discover your passion if you haven’t already and do more of the things you love.
