Aquarius (20 January – 18 February)
As October begins, there’s plenty of excitement in your fellow air sign of Libra, ruling travel and study and the bigger picture in life. This starts on the 1st when there’s a New Moon in Libra, a perfect date to set your intentions for the month ahead. A New Moon symbolises new beginnings, a chance to start afresh, launch a project, take the initiative.
This is especially important right now because there’s another key planet in Libra and that’s Jupiter, the biggest planet in the heavens. Jupiter entered Libra last month where it remains for the next 12 months and as Jupiter rules opportunity and growth, it’s high time to plan your next big adventure.
This is about freedom for you and wide, open spaces. It’s the side of your character that doesn’t want to be tied down or restricted in any way but instead wants to soar high and live life to the full.
Jupiter is linked to foreign connections, travel and study, learning and knowledge. It represents the higher mind, whether you’re interested in science, philosophy, astrology, spirituality. It’s the part of you that wants to explore more, learn more, find out more.
This would be an ideal month to begin a course of study or book a holiday or a trip away. Jupiter’s also linked to publishing, the media and the Law and one date in particular stands out in October. That date is the 11th when communication planet Mercury teams up with Jupiter in Libra.
This is a brilliant date to take an exam or test or plan a meeting or interview. It’s wonderful for negotiating, sharing ideas, brainstorming. If you want something special to happen, sit down and work on your vision, your ideas, your plans for what next.
Communication planet Mercury is in Libra from the 7th to the 24th and the Sun remains in Libra up until the 22nd. This is also about giving yourself distance to gain new perspective on your current situation.
Sometimes it’s hard to see what’s really going on when it’s in your face or close up. Change your surroundings, go somewhere new, shift your habits, do things differently, keep an open mind. Any activity which helps alter your perspective is highly recommended.
There will be a certain amount of opposition to your plans or antagonistic behaviour to deal with in the month ahead and there will be key periods when you don’t see eye-to-eye with other people.
The trickiest period is from the 15th to the 20th when your ruling planet Uranus opposes the Sun and Mercury in Libra. Uranus is in Aries and your communication sector and Uranus is pulled in to the Full Moon on the 16th.
This is a classic scenario of different opinions, opposing beliefs. It indicates disagreement rather than union. It would be easy to say let this be or let it go but actually whatever takes place for you this month matters on a deep level. It’s personal.
This is because there’s volcanic planetary activity taking place in your previous sign of Capricorn and this is about things that are hidden. Action planet Mars is in Capricorn throughout October and on the 19th Mars clashes with Pluto in this same sign.
This indicates strong emotions, pent up energy, a lot going on inside. Be careful what you say or do during October and stay safe. The 5th and 29th are also potentially volatile days when your words have consequences and your actions are decisive.
Take care if you’re being hard on yourself, if you’re angry because of what you’ve done or not done. Repressed anger can quickly turn to depression if it’s not released or channelled into constructive activity. Being physical through regular exercise can really help.
You might also be considering what next with regard to your career and vocation especially once the Sun enters Scorpio and your career sector on the 22nd. There’s a helpful Sun/Mercury conjunction on the 27th, brilliant for applying for a job or setting up a work meeting or interview.
Plus the New Moon on the 30th also highlights your career sector and offers a chance to be proactive with regard to your work and career.
Love and career are linked until the 18th and if you’re looking for love, you might meet someone through your place of work. This could be a flirtation, a secret romance.
Close relationships are more of a stop-start affair and the mid-month period creates distance between you whether you’re actually apart or you’ve disconnected for some reason. Take your time when it comes to love this month and again watch what you say. Words that are said in haste aren’t easily forgotten.
The best date to connect with the one you love is the 4th when the Sun and Saturn are a team. The end of October too brings a new level of commitment to love when Venus sits side by side with Saturn on the 30th.
This is a commit-or-quit combination but either way you can’t let love drift. Love flows more easily when the one you love is also your best friend. The 30th could prove special if this is the case.
