Aquarius (20 January – 18 February)
There’s a strong focus on earth signs early in the month of May and this adds a slower pace to life than perhaps you’re used to. Earth signs are about steady application, doing the same thing day in, day out, working doggedly towards long-term goals.
Three of the personal planets are in Taurus, the sign which links to home and family in your chart, your past and where you come from. These areas of your life can bring you a lot of joy now especially as one of the planets in Taurus is Venus, the planet of relating, where it remains until May 24th.
This would be a wonderful month to catch up with friends and family, to arrange a family get-together or celebrate a wedding or anniversary. Venus influences your home life and as Venus is the planet of beauty, you might be keen to liven your surroundings, redecorate, work on your garden, add flowers and scent to your home so peace and harmony can prevail.
Work at family relations now and strive for steady and secure foundations in your life. The more settled you are, the more able you are to deal with any bigger issues that arise.
A peak date for setting new intentions with regard to your home and family is May 6th when there’s a New Moon in Taurus. Set off on a trip down memory lane or get back in touch with someone you haven’t heard from for years, a family member or a childhood friend.
One of the planets in Taurus is slightly more complex as this is Mercury, the communication planet, which is currently retrograde, i.e. on go slow until May 22nd. This can indicate misunderstandings and delays and especially if you’re visiting family, be flexible and allow yourself extra time to get from A to B.
It’s important to remember that you can’t believe everything you hear whilst Mercury’s on go slow so don’t take words to heart if someone speaks out of turn or makes a surprising suggestion. Events tend to shift again once Mercury is back up to speed so go with the flow whilst Mercury’s retrograde and double check all arrangements carefully.
This is not a good time to make a major purchase either, even if you are thinking of updating your home or moving house. If you can put off any major events or big decisions until Mercury turns direct, this is advised. Bide your time and explore your options until then.
There’s also a major Grand Earth Trine in the sky this month which dominates the first fortnight. This includes the Sun in Taurus which connects to Jupiter, the planet of opportunity and growth, in Virgo and your joint finance sector with Pluto, the planet of loss and transformation, in Capricorn and your hidden sector.
This feels karmic and links back to your past. You might be putting a chapter of your life to rest or want to find a way to close a door on the past so you can move on. It’s also a sentimental planetary combination so indulge in happy memories and use your past connections to good effect. Reach out to others and evoke kindness and compassion.
If money’s currently an issue for yourself or someone close, this flow of energy will help you find a solution, a way to share funds so everyone benefits. Ensure that other people, including yourself, feel supported and protected at this time. The more you can set up strong foundations for you and the ones you love, the better.
When there’s a lot of activity in earth signs, you can feel bored or stuck in a rut because you’re an air sign and you enjoy movement and change in life. Yet life is slowing you down for a purpose so go with it at least for the first two-thirds of the month.
The planetary shift comes once the Sun enters your fellow air sign of Gemini on May 20th followed by Venus, the planet of relating, on May 24th.
Gemini rules a joyful sector of your chart, it’s about play rather than work and it rules romance, children & pregnancy, creative projects and entertainment. It’s basically about putting the fun back into life.
Romance is well-starred too especially once Venus reaches Gemini and your romance sector but there is a question mark during the Full Moon period which feels volatile. This takes place on May 21st when the Sun in Gemini opposes the Moon in Sagittarius.
Emotions are often heightened during a Full Moon but this one is especially feisty as it pulls in the planet of passion and anger, Mars, which is currently retrograde in Sagittarius and your friendship sector.
This indicates a clash, some form of conflict whether you find yourself at odds with a group in which you’re involved or you and a friend don’t see eye-to-eye. This is most likely to be a difference of opinion, beliefs which are opposed.
Yet there’s also a possibility that it’s a clash over romance, falling for someone who’s not available or who has close links to one of your friends. Love and friendship are out of alignment during this Full Moon period and this is confirmed on May 25th when the lovers of the heavens, Venus and Mars, are also in opposition.
Choose your battles carefully during this period and take other peoples’ feelings into account. You might not think you’re doing anything wrong when you put your own needs first but the planetary set-up suggests this will prove challenging for someone else.
Work too is highlighted towards the end of May when action planet Mars retreats back into Scorpio and your career sector on the 27th. It might feel as if you’re taking a step back with regard to your work and career or perhaps you’re offered your old job or a role you’ve taken on before. This isn’t ideal but consider this if it’s your best option. Once Mars turns direct in Scorpio on June 29th, only then are you back in charge.
