Aquarius (21 January – 18 February)
Eclipse Season
Eclipses are associated with drama and change and January is an eclipse month. You might find yourself in the dark at times and need to feel your way forwards carefully.
The Lunar or Full Moon Eclipse takes place on the 10th cutting across the Cancer/Capricorn axis of the zodiac. This particular eclipse cycle began in July 2018 and completes in July 2020. For you, it’s about your work and routine, your lifestyle and health. Also, rest and retreat, your inner world and private concerns.
Eclipses bring change to your situation. They’re not necessarily neither good nor bad but they often coincide with times when external events have a knock on effect in your life. Work is one area where you’re wise to tread carefully. There could be changes to your current situation and it’s a good idea to get on the right side of other people.
The Saturn-Pluto Conjunction
The theme is release and letting go, changing old habits and giving in to what’s not working out. This is also the theme of the Saturn-Pluto conjunction in Capricorn which takes place on the 12th. This is an important conjunction for you because Saturn is your traditional ruling planet.
It suggests taking a step back and considering what next. You could return to the past in January and it’s a month when you may need to rework and revise your plans. Be kind to yourself during this time. Be kind to others too although be wary of a secret enemy, someone who’s not on your side.
The Saturn-Pluto theme could represent a run in with the authorities or finding that someone has power or control over you in a way you didn’t expect. It’s also important to consider how you wield your own power. Play a strategic game and don’t be persuaded to build up any bad karma.
As the key activity is in Capricorn and the most hidden sector of your horoscope, it’s important to look at what you’re ready to let go of. If you want to give up a bad habit or stop behaviour that doesn’t serve you, here’s your opportunity. Release any negativity and let it go.
The Uranus Factor
Also, there could be an issue with regard to your home or family as your co-ruler, Uranus, turns direct in Taurus and this sector of your horoscope on the 11th. Therefore, Uranus is sandwiched between the Eclipse and the Saturn-Pluto conjunction.
Uranus wants to break free from the bonds that tie you. This looks like moving away from your family or a situation where you feel trapped. Letting go of the past either literally or symbolically.
Your Star Sign
What’s also important to note this month is that this is your time and you are, in fact, in a strong position. This is especially true once Mercury (communication) and the Sun (identity) enter your star sign Aquarius on the 16th and 20th respectively.
Once the Sun is here, this heralds your birthday month, an ideal time for celebration. This could be when your confidence returns, especially if you’re knocked by external events on or around the eclipse.
Plus, you have Venus (relating) in Aquarius until the 13th. Therefore, you have the love planet on your side and the first two weeks of the month are ideal for all forms of relationships and negotiation.
If you want or need to talk about yourself more than usual, go for it. If you want other people’s advice on your relationship situation, the same applies. Talk and ponder, reflect and listen.
You may be in a situation where it’s particularly important to focus on yourself and what you want and need moving forwards. When planets are in your star sign, this highlights your personal goals and aims, your image and profile and how the world sees you.
It’s time to look at yourself and whether you’re being true to who you are. Notice whether your identity is caught up with your work or career and whether that needs to shift. If you think you’d benefit from personal development work, this would be an excellent time to look at yourself more closely.
The New Moon in Aquarius on the 24th could be a stand out date in this respect. Try not to be overly impulsive on the run up to the New Moon but do decide where you’re heading and why.
Friends & Money
It’s not all about you this month because action planet Mars enters Sagittarius and your friends and group sector on the 3rd. This is where life looks lively and there’s plenty going on. Mars rules drive and ambition. You might be hanging out with an exciting set of people or be ready to team up with others to unleash your ideas on the world.
You’ll love being around people who are spontaneous and adventurous but take care this doesn’t encourage bad behaviour. Don’t allow other people to sway what you want to do. Other people might give you bad advice this month or advise you to do the opposite of what you need. This is particularly evident around the 28th, when it’s important to stand your ground and speak up for yourself.
Money too is an important factor as the month continues, in particular from mid-month onwards. This is because Venus enters Pisces and your personal money sector on the 13th. Venus in Pisces can feel indulgent, a time when you want to treat yourself and others.
You may be re-negotiating financial matters, perhaps because of the changes that take place during the eclipse period. Money could be an emotional issue for you now. You might not want to deal with finances and would rather pass over the reins to someone else. This would be a bad idea, however, because Neptune is also strong.
Going with the flow and trusting and having faith that things will work out is one thing, but Neptune can flag up a period when you’re fooled, seduced or deluded around money. Keep your clever brain engaged and don’t detach entirely from financial matters, even if you recognise that your values are shifting and changing as 2020 gets underway.
