It’s All About The Journey
It’s a good month to pay close attention to the phrase ‘it’s about the journey not the destination’. This is because you have a lot of planetary activity taking place in your fellow air sign Libra, which rules travel and study in your horoscope. Yet, it’s a complex mix of opposing forces. Here’s what’s happening in Libra:
- Mercury (communication) – all month, retrograde until the 18th
- Mars (action/drive) – until the 30th
- Sun (essence/ego) – until the 23rd
You’re right to be thinking and looking ahead now and lining up some new plans for the future. With key planets in Libra, you want something more in your life than the every day. You might be exploring new beliefs, your philosophy on life, a spiritual path or a new religion. You could be interested in the workings of the mind or the mysteries of the world. Mars wants adventure in Libra and fast.
The New Moon on the 6th could be a pivotal date, a symbol of a new beginning, a fresh start for a holiday, trip, workshop or course. Active Mars is pulled into the New Moon energy and is lively on the 8th & 9th. Expand your horizons, step out of your comfort zone and be bold and courageous.
Admittedly, Mercury is retrograde in Libra until the 18th but that doesn’t mean sit at home and do nothing. It’s the opposite, in fact, as Mercury retrograde in Libra is an ideal time to change around your routine, stop, retreat, go somewhere different. It can be an extremely creative and innovative Mercury retrograde phase, as long as you’re flexible and you’re willing to go wherever life leads you.
The Full Moon on the 20th is when the Libra energy peaks and it would be a great date to get away, go somewhere different or do something that broadens your outlook on life. This could be the time when you hear about a course, a test or exam. Or, you find out what’s possible when it comes to travel and what’s not.
By the time of the Full Moon, Mercury has turned direct on the 18th and this can bring new information or news to light that helps you make a decisive move.
Your Personal Projects
Also, this month you have two planets turning direct in your star sign Aquarius. Firstly, Saturn, the planet of commitment and responsibility, turns direct on the 11th. Sometimes, this coincides with an ending or a disappointment. Or at least, it’s time to get real about what you can can’t achieve. Saturn is strong in Aquarius and good for being disciplined and determined.
The best turning point, however, is Jupiter turning direct in your star sign Aquarius on the 18th, the same day as Mercury turns direct. This is a gorgeous green light and could be fortunate for many different areas of your life.
Jupiter’s linked to foreign connections, higher education, the law, publishing, the media, religion. It would be a great date to do something magical and say yes to a new experience that enhances your life.

Career Moves
The planets start to make their way towards the peak of your horoscope in October and there’s some key activity in Scorpio and your career and vocation sector. Here’s the planetary line-up:
- Venus (love/relating) – until the 7th
- Sun (essence/ego) – from the 23rd
- Mars (action/drive) – from the 30th
You might have new ideas and plans for your future path this month. Scorpio season is a good time to set up meetings and interviews, write a CV or business plan and generally get things moving, whatever your next steps.
Get the right people on your side and use your network or connections especially during the first week of the month. There might be influential people in your life, perhaps a woman in a powerful position.
Ensure you know what you’re doing and be prepared. Use the Mercury retrograde phase to do your research, chase up old contacts and make learning and study a key part of your success. Be prepared and ready to put new career or vocational plans into action in the last week of the month.
Endings & Letting Go
Something may need to come to an end this month, if you’re to make the most of the opportunities opening up in front of you. This has a lot to do with the fact that the slowest-moving planet Pluto turns direct on the 6th in Capricorn.
Capricorn is the most hidden sector of your horoscope, linked to the past, your karma or your inner self. Be vigilant about your thoughts this month and don’t let negativity take hold.
Do make the most of your opportunities this month and don’t be your own worst enemy. Keep moving steadily forwards, even if at times you take two steps forward and one step back.
- Pluto Clashes: 1st, 17th & 22nd
Notice what’s holding you back or what’s not working out. It might be that a new opportunity can’t begin or you’re unable to embrace the freedom you crave until you let go or say goodbye to the past.
Mercury Retrograde Do’s & Don’ts
Remember the Mercury retrograde mantra – put off the big decisions & major investments until the communication planet is back up to speed on October 18th. Here are some more tips:
- be flexible, have plans B, C & D up your sleeve
- take a step back, do less not more
- double-check everything, read the small print
- chase up old contacts, revisit the past
- use all the re-words – revise, rework, review, reconsider
- rest & retreat when you can
- do your research ready to act when Mercury turns direct
