Aquarius (20 January – 18 February)
Action planet Mars is in your sign of Aquarius as December begins and this is your cue to get busy. Mars remains here until the 19th so circle this date in your diary and try and see what you can achieve before then.
When Mars is in your own sign, it’s an important period to push things through, focus on your personal goals and aims and take the initiative. Plus there’s a sociable feel to your sign of Aquarius and this fits with the Sun’s transit through Sagittarius up until the 21st. This is about group activities.
Whether your interest lies in politics, social concerns, environmental or humanitarian efforts, schools or local community, look to where you can do your bit this month and join people of like minds to further your beliefs and stand up for your principles.
Christmas is a wonderful time for charity ventures, so decide whether you want to volunteer your skills or time and join in with other people all in the name of good cause.
Friendships too fall under this bracket and this is a good month to get back in touch with old friends, people from the past you’ve lost touch with recently. Treasure your closest friendships and re-establish a firm bond. Bringing groups of people together for whatever reason is ideal in the month of December.
The Full Moon on the 14th cuts across the Gemini/Sagittarius axis of the zodiac lighting up the social sectors of your chart, a great date for a celebration, bringing people together.
Move forward a few days and the 19th is a key date for another reason and this is the fact that communication planet Mercury turns retrograde on the same day that Mars leaves Aquarius. This is a significant turning point in the month and you’re wise to slow down the pace from here on in.
Or at least don’t take on too much and choose your activities selectively. Mercury remains on go slow until January 8th 2017 so allow yourself some time and space for inner reflection over the holiday period.
On December 29th, there’s a New Moon in Capricorn and the most hidden sector of your chart. The few days between Christmas and New Year are gorgeous for inner reflection and getting creative about money matters.
One area of your life that’s positively glowing this month is love and relationships. Love planet Venus enters your sign of Aquarius on the 7th and on Christmas Day, December 25th, Venus is the key player. You might be ready to make a proposal, be with the one you love or someone close could make Christmas extra special for you.
Make sure you’re centre of attention this year and even though it’s wise to build some quiet time into the festivities, you’re the person in demand. Venus is in your sign on Christmas Day and the Moon is in Aquarius on New Year’s Eve. The feminine planets are nurturing and nourishing you. Let love in and give kindness and love in return.
There’s another reason why Christmas is full of surprises this year and this involves your co-rulers, Saturn and Uranus. Saturn is in fire sign Sagittarius and Uranus is currently in another fire sign, Aries, the sign that rules communication.
Your ruling planets are in the same element and, therefore working in unison. Together they represent finding your voice, getting your message across, making a difference. If ever there was a year to demonstrate your belief in a cause or to stand up for what you believe in, it’s now.
Saturn and Uranus make a stunning trine aspect across the zodiac on Christmas Day itself, December 25th, which combines the old (Saturn) with the new (Uranus). Put your experience and wisdom to good use and take part in a community initiative or a charity event.
This is ideal symbolism for giving up your own Christmas to do something worthwhile, either on a retreat or helping others worse off than yourself.
It’s also a sign that you’re ready to shake up tradition and do things differently over the festive period. Spending time with a group of your best friends or joining others in a shared celebration fits the bill perfectly.
The following day, December 26th, there’s another major planetary aspect between Jupiter in Libra opposing Uranus in Aries and three days later, Uranus turns direct in the heavens. This is electric astrology, zinging with change potential.
Jupiter’s the planet of opportunity and expansion and it’s through widening your experience of life and gaining knowledge that you grow as a person. For some, the Christmas period is a time when you might consider living or moving abroad.
Foreign connections beckon and bring excitement and happiness your way. You’re ready to live somewhere new, to embrace new cultures and new experiences and more than anything, you’re ready to fly free.
There’s a sense of expansion and possibility with these big planetary combinations and if anything, it means you’re ready for the off.
This is your opportunity to spread your wings, fly free, seek out new horizons and explore the world to the full. Book a holiday, sign up for a mind-expanding course and do whatever you need to feel that you’re breaking away from the mundane and routine. Whatever you do this Christmas, whatever unexpected events come your way, say Yes to life.
