A New Taurus-Scorpio Eclipse Cycle

Lunar Eclipse [27 Taurus 14]

November 19, 2021 (08:57 GMT)

This month’s Full Moon is special because it’s a Lunar Eclipse, when the light of the Moon is ‘eclipsed’ in its relationship with the Sun & Earth.

During a Lunar Eclipse, the Sun & Moon are at opposite sides of the zodiac and the karmic nodes or points of destiny are pulled into the major planetary pattern.

A shadow is thrown during an eclipse which is why eclipse symbolism is said to be ‘shadowy’ & hidden. Once the shadow lifts, it brings what’s hidden to light or sheds a new perspective on a current situation.

Traditionally, you’re wise to wait a few days after an eclipse before taking action and it’s not a good date to undertake a major project.

Eclipses are often feared because they bring what’s hidden to light, they represent the unknown. They can coincide with external events in your life, where you have to let go of control. Once you know this, you can be more in flow.

Eclipses are often concurrent with turning points. This is why they are considered game-changers as they move the goalposts of life. Fundamentally, eclipses are neither positive nor negative. It’s how you perceive and respond to what happens in your life and out in the world that’s important.

Sometimes, eclipses act as a catalyst for change but you don’t recognise this until later on. Their effect can last a few months after the exact date of the eclipse, even up until the next set of eclipses, which will occur in April/May 2022. The Lunar Eclipse on May 16, 2022 falls at a similar degree – see below.

A New Eclipse Cycle

This is the first eclipse in a new eclipse cycle which cuts across the Taurus/Scorpio axis of the zodiac. These two star signs are ruled by Venus & Mars respectively, the lovers of the heavens.

Eclipse cycles re-occur approximately every 19 years. The last eclipse cycle here was November 2002 to April 2005, the previous one was May 1984 to April 1986, the one before that was May 1966 to November 1967.

The current eclipse cycle will last from November 2021 until October 2023.

This is important for you if you’re one of the fixed star signs, Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius. Also, if the eclipses impact on key angles or planets in your birth chart – use a 2 degree orb.

This first eclipse falls at 27 Taurus. Here’s the full eclipse cycle:

  • Lunar Eclipse [27 Taurus 14] – November 19 2021 (08:57 GMT)
  • Solar Eclipse [10 Taurus 28] – April 30 2022 (21:28 GMT+1)
  • Lunar Eclipse [25 Scorpio 18] – May 16 2022 (05:15 GMT+1)
  • Solar Eclipse [02 Scorpio 00] – October 25 2022 (11:49 GMT+1)
  • Lunar Eclipse [16 Taurus 01] – November 8 2022 (11:02 GMT)
  • Lunar Eclipse [14 Scorpio 58] – May 5 2023 (18:24 GMT+1)
  • Lunar Eclipse [5 Taurus 09] – October 28 2023 (21:15 GMT+1)

Taurus/Scorpio Axis

The Taurus/Scorpio axis of the zodiac is closely linked to fertility and creation, loss and degeneration. This is the cycle of nature. Taurus rules produce, food, what the earth creates for us, how it nurtures and nourishes us.

In the northern hemisphere, the Sun’s move through Taurus coincides with the month of May one of the richest and most fertile times in nature. In Taurus season, nature’s bounty begins to sprout and comes to life in glorious abundance. May is one of the best months of the year for colourful flowers.

Fast forward six months and the Sun moves into Scorpio. In the northern hemisphere, this coincides with autumn and leaves falling, as nature’s bounty starts to die and tumbles back into the ground, fertilising the earth. Sometimes, this can feel like a time of loss or sadness.

Scorpio is linked to regeneration and waste products, including pooh. It’s the compost of life, liquid gold, as the leaves mulch down to bring sustenance back into the earth, ready for next year’s bounty. The cycles of nature and astrology remind us of the inevitable cycle of life, death and rebirth.

Other Taurus/Scorpio themes are money & power – we can expect a lively time in the economy & on the stock markets over the coming two years with the planet of change Uranus active in Taurus; also sex – Taurus is a fertile star sign & Scorpio rules the sex organs. Issues around infertility & clashes over abortion laws are likely to intensify.

Other Factors

Venus/Uranus

On the day of the Lunar Eclipse, November 19th, there’s a Venus-Uranus trine aspect. This is important to note because Venus is the ruling planet of the Taurus Lunar Eclipse. Venus in Capricorn trine Uranus in Taurus, two of the earth signs. Therefore, the eclipse could spell good news for some people. This is particularly relevant regarding love & money, Venus’ themes.

You can never tell exactly what an eclipse is going to bring. Often during a Lunar Eclipse, there’s a theme of winners & losers. For example, in a love triangle, one person is often chosen over another. Someone wins but someone loses. It can’t spell good news for everyone. You want to try and end up on the winning team.

Mars/Uranus

Uranus has been a key player all month. Uranus was directly opposite the New Moon in Scorpio on October 4th, which felt more like a dramatic eclipse than a regular New Moon. Eclipses and Uranus both bring the unexpected. Surprises are sprung, change beckons.

Also, two days before the Lunar Eclipse, there’s a Mars-Uranus opposition on November 17th cutting across the Scorpio-Taurus axis of the zodiac. Mars-Uranus aspects act as a trigger or catalyst. Put the two together and there’s an out-of-control vibe going on. Strong emotions could erupt and fast. This is not the day to plan something crazy or take impulsive risks. Steer clear of anger & slow down the pace.

Jupiter & Pluto

During the Lunar Eclipse, the main planetary aspects are a square to Jupiter at 24 Aquarius which adds wind to the eclipse’s sails. Jupiter can over-exaggerate, over-inflate, be over-confident and pompous. It’s an adventurous addition to the eclipse energy. Plus, there’s a sextile aspect to Pluto at 24 Capricorn, which could be a steadying influence or a power-grab.

This is lively, infectious astrology that requires careful navigation and measured thought. It’s not a time to leap in feet first. It is a time to be alert and ready for unusual events. Read the signs & synchronicities of life that come your way.

Key Areas To Note

Here’s a guide to the areas of your life where you may experience a theme of endings and new beginnings. Or, you’re being called forth on a path of change & transformation. Read both your Sun sign & Ascendant sign:

  • Taurus & Scorpio: 1st/7th houses – RELATIONSHIPS/IDENTITY – your image & appearance, personal goals, your identity; love & relationships, significant others, agreements & conflicts, contracts & joint ventures
  • Gemini & Sagittarius: 12th/6th houses – WORK/LIFESTYLE – retreat, quiet, solitude, a spiritual path; your health & work, what you sacrifice for others, being of service
  • Cancer & Capricorn: 11th/5th houses – SOCIAL GROUPS/SELF-EXPRESSION – your friends, groups, politics & social issues; your children, creativity, love affairs, what you ‘give birth to’.
  • Leo & Aquarius: 10th/4th houses – FOUNDATIONS/FUTURE PATH – your career & vocation, your status & reputation, where you’re heading in life; your home & family, your past & roots, where you come from.
  • Virgo & Pisces: 3rd/9th houses – LEARNING/BELIEFS – your education, neighbours & siblings, how you communicate; the bigger picture, travel, philosophy, religion, where you find meaning in life.
  • Libra & Aries: 2nd/8th houses – MONEY/SELF-WORTH – money, possessions, where your values lie; your joint finances, sexuality, all things hidden, the unconscious, the metaphysical realm.

  1. Nice writeup Sally – much to digest in there.

All but one of these eclipse hits my chart by conjunction or square so it’ll be interesting to see where it all goes. The north node will be going through my 1st during this set of eclipses and I’ve already been very self-focused this year with Uranus transiting it and Saturn in the 10th.

This week’s eclipse hits right in the heart of my chart – five of my planets plus two asteroids within the two-degree orb, another within 3degrees. Could really do with it bringing a boost as life has been so flat for so long. Not bad just flat.

  2. Thank you. I’m Leo Rising ten degrees. This first one happened in the tenth house in an exact square to my ascendant. Ruled by Venus in the 8th. I started a job the next day. I don’t want to work for other people, but in order to really work for myself I need the money to purchase things that make that easier. I believe this represents the square. My career going in a direction that no longer resonates with my identity.

But the energy around this really affected everyone in my life. Youngest is a Scorpio Rising who was about to get engaged and move in with his partner, only for the partner to end it out of nowhere and abruptly. Uranus in the 7th house will do that. I could go on and on about how I watched this energy play out, and am still watching it.

It sounds like it’s an important Taurus-Scorpio eclipse cycle for you, Katrina. Sending best wishes.

  3. Hi Sally

I am a Natal Aquarian AC 16 degrees, with Sun conjunct Moon in Scorpio in 10th – part of stellium running from 9th H Neptune 3 degrees Scorpio, conjunct MC (5 deg ) conjunct Mars (8 deg) conjunct True NN (10), bit of a stretch from 10 degrees to 19 to Moon then to Sun at 28. My Sun/Moon MP = 25 Scorpio. AC Ruler 11 Leo conjunct DC. True SN conjunct DC at 5 Taurus.

As an adult childhood trauma survivor with unsupported ADHD/ASD), desperately needing rebirth, regeneration and renewal, I hope I can marshal the necessary energies this cycle seems to offer.
